Once again UM proves what UM doesn't know doesn't stop UM from trying to sound like the expert on ALL subjects and before you take UM's word on all this, check the links after the story:
Person 1: anyone knowthe derivation of new years eve
Unchained Melody: lemme look up the word derivation and i might tell ya....lol
Person 1: thinking it must be related somehow to christs birth but mebbe not
Person 2: No Person 1
Person 3: hate to sound simplistic - but maybe it's just because it's the beginning of a brand new year? lol
Unchained Melody: PERSON 1...thinkin its more related to the roman calendar we follow..and winter solstice PERSON 1
Person 1: lol but why is the new year related to that date susan, lol
Person 3: simplicity is beautiful
Person 1: Unchained Melody, that makes more sense, but wouldnt it have been earlier
Person 3: because - it's after the end of the old year, lol
Person 4: simple is best...
Person 1: the solstice is earlier
Unchained Melody: well....pagans keep a 13 month calendar PERSON 1....and yes...our new year is not the same as the roman calendar
Person 2: My daughter was born on new years day
Person 1: my year ended well, hopt it keeps getting better....yes and jewish new year is different too
Person 4: old year..new year...does a day make that much difference to anyone but the IRS?
Person 1: jewish is related to the harvest
Unchained Melody: there are two moons in one month of the roman calendar..which throws off the dates....just like the chinese nwe year is different....so is that of the pagan calendar
Person 1: so it makes me think the year of our lord statment makes it related to christs birth
Unchained Melody: year of our lord..referred to the king or queen PERSON 1..if i remember correctly...nothing religious such as what you are sayin..that i know of PERSON 1
Person 1: before crist and after crist
Unchained Melody: and what is BC and AC to you PERSON 1? cuz even THAT has different meanings to some
Person 1: i grew up with a jewish year and a christian year we even referred to it as the christian year
Unchained Melody: uhm...see.. BC is before Christ & AD is Anno Domini which means in the year of our Lord. ..google away and let me know what ya find PERSON 1
Person 1: yeah but we agree the lord in that is christ, right
Unchained Melody: .......for me..."LORD" refered to royalty...who reigned AFTER christ.....but hey..lets see what google says....
