If you ever hear on line that someone had an accident and is in the hospital, knowing the city where this supposedly occurred, one can call hospitals in the area, say they are looking for "a friend" who they were told just had a bad accident (fill in the details based on what you've heard on line) and if any one has had such an accident, the hospital will not give out names but they will confirm or deny that they have such a patient. Also, such accidents are listed in the newspapers. Reporters don't let things like this get by them. Even better, just send an email to the screen name in question letting them know the rumor you heard and ask them for firsthand confirmation or denial.
Gosh and it's funny. You send an email to the s/n who is supposed to be hurt, then the person telling about the incident just happens to have to leave the room a minute and gets off line a bit, the email gets answered, and that some one appears back in the room. Interesting how that happens. Makes you wonder some times.
